Woodside

Woodside is a small town along the Peninsula, midway between Silicon Valley and San Francisco, that is known for its quaint and small town feel.  Its population is estimated to be about 5,300 and is home to roughly 2,000 households and many venture capital and investment firms.  The area has a rich history of milling, with the first sawmills being built in the early 19th century.  The first generation redwood trees were used to build San Francisco’s original homes.  After the 1906 earthquake, loggers returned to Woodside to cut the second growth or redwood to be used in the rebuilding of San Francisco.  Woodside is home to a number of open space preserves, including the Purisima Open Space, and is popular among local cyclists and equestrians.
