Atherton

Atherton is located in southern San Mateo County, just a short drive from Palo Alto and Stanford University. Named after Faxon Atherton, a wealthy hide and tallow trader from Chile who bought over 600 acres and built the first mansion in the area, Atherton is rich in history and unique in its character.

Atherton has gorgeous views everywhere. On the flatlands, you can enjoy an abundance of native live oaks, white oaks, bay trees, redwood trees, cedars, pines and other ornamental trees. From the hills you can enjoy views of the bay. Commuting to Silicon Valley and Stanford is easy via freeway or CalTrain.
